It all about the feet

The official decision to keep HONEY prompted an urgent call to my long time Farrier. I really felt her training could not progress because she was traveling on her heel bulbs and did not seem comfortable.

The trims were super, but I just needed to do something to make her more comfortable. Also because she really never had regular care ( IMAGINE pregnant and foaling) the laminae had really pulled away from the hoof wall.  At our first meeting (read here) she had big platter feet that need attention.
The trimmer has done a great job- 2 trims in total. He was very careful and I liked his work.
You can see in the photos that follow bare on 9/15 and shoes as of 9/22. there is absolutely no heel. The ground is dry and hard and she is not comfortable on the trail- unless booted, and she never strikes a canter.  The horses strike off with a hind and you'll see - all her feet are down- and all 4 are on the bulbs...
please look at the pics then scroll down and read what she does after the shoes!

I really hope she is able to grow a nice heel and correct this all.

She got her shoes on Thursday, on Friday the 23rd I walked her to the arena AND guess what!! I unsnapped her halter and she struck right of into a canter, took both corners and at the other end -she stopped, snorted and flagged her tail-! She was happy to be able to tear it up. !
